 - The Digit 218/318/418 are a line of modular high speed milling machines with X axis travel of 2000, 3000 and 4150 mm, respectively, and Y and Z axis travel of 1000 and 800 mm. The machines have been:
- Designed to produce high precision moulds and dies, while reducing machining time, and to eliminate or greatly reduce manual finishing and electrical discharge machining times;
- Developed with the aim of making high speed tool paths over complex surfaces more accurate and independent of the weight of the parts being machined:
- Built using the best mechanical components to offer maximum dynamic rigidity, as well as superior electro-mechanical elements to allow for maximum acceleration and machining speed.
- Ideal for the semi-finishing and finishing of steel, including very hard steels, and for the machining of aluminum alloys, graphite and resins, the Digit 218/318/418 are equipped with the Fidia C2 numerical control for complex machine tools.
- The structure of the axes allows for the generation of layouts for the machining of parts whose width is greater than the transverse travel.
- An example is the Boxer configuration in which two machines work simultaneously on two different areas of the same part. Another configuration involves a rototranslating table in place of the fixed table.
